Barry: They have nitric acid next to hidrazine? Permanaganates on top of acetone? Barry: This is DEFINITION of dangerous. |
Felicity: If they're so dangerous, maybe you shouldn't be touching them. |
[lightning strikes and thunder claps] |
Also known as the very same episode in which Central City police scientist Barry Allen (guest star Grant Gustin) gets struck by lightning and gets his speedster powers - all ready and set for upcoming "The Flash" TV pilot episode!
"DC comics chief Geoff Johns promised they’ll be using “a lot of mythology and characters from the comics,” while producer Greg Berlanti said they’ll use the extra time to have “reimagined the character’s origin and to have it be so emotional and to now actually be able to render that in pilot form has been terrific.”
Though Flash is obviously the biggest shift into the deeper DC universe, Kreisberg teased that the new series could go a long way into blowing the wider comic-book world wide open — noting there’s even “a hint of a major character in the [Flash] pilot,” though it could still be axed before we see the episode.
He also explained how the character of Flash will differ from Arrow, which is an intriguing insight into the approach of the new series: “[Barry] needs the bolt of lightning to be a hero in a way [Oliver] doesn’t need the bolt of lightning.” Johns broke it down like this: “[Oliver] needs the heart, Barry has the heart. [Oliver] has the body, Barry needs the body.” We’d imagine that’s where the superpowers come in." +
Seems like he also has the heart for Oliver. Barry's geeking out over superheroes will never cease to amuse me. As well as the gay jokes.
It doesn't stop him from caling out at Oliver's bullshit when it's needed, though.
Barry: You don't have to thank me, but you should thank her instead of being kind of a jerk... Mr. Queen. |
As for the cast, Bludhaven Banter has obtained unconfirmed character descriptions for Iris West and her father, Detective West.
"IRIS - 22-28 - African-American - As smart as she is beautiful, Iris is in grad school studying psychology. She's also Barry's mile a minute, fast-talking, quick-witted best friend. Her father, Detective West, took in Barry when his mother was murdered, and his father was wrongly accused and imprisoned for her murder. In a tough childhood for Barry, she was the one "not tough" thing. She's unaware of Barry's strong feelings for her.
DETECTIVE WEST - Late 40s to Early 50s - African American -Detective West is an honest, blue-collar cop who's seen it all. A soulful, funny caring father to Iris, and a surrogate father to Barry, West came up through the foster system himself. He took in Barry after his mother's murder and his father's imprisonment. He believes in Barry and supports Barry's efforts to prove his father's innocence."
Now we only have to wait and watch the Tumblr flipping over character's race change.
