The CW’s Official Description: BARRY ALLEN COMES TO STARLING CITY — A seemingly impossible robbery at Queen Consolidated’s Applied Sciences Division brings Central City police scientist Barry Allen (guest star Grant Gustin) to town. Citing a similar case back home, Barry offers to help Oliver (Stephen Amell) and team with the investigation. Oliver senses there is more to Barry than meets the eye, but he’s distracted by the similarities between this current case and something that happened on the island. Meanwhile, Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) takes a liking to Barry, which doesn’t go unnoticed by Oliver. Sin (guest star Bex Taylor-Klaus) asks Roy (Colton Haynes) for help when a friend of hers goes missing. Roy is surprised when Thea (Willa Holland) not only encourages him to help, but joins the search. Unfortunately, Sin’s friend is connected to Brother Blood (guest star Kevin Alejandro), and their search ultimately gets one of them seriously injured. Michael Schultz directed the episode with story by Greg Berlanti & Andrew Kresiberg and teleplay by Andrew Kreisberg & Geoff Johns.

Everyone doubted Grant Gustin's role as The Flash from the moment of announcement - or, in this case, Barry Allen - but when the character's appearance is written in the most canonical way possible

Policeman: "Who the hell are you?"
Oliver: "And do your parents know that you're here?"

Now, I know that there could be an actor more suitable for this, who lloks more like a grown-up and blonde, but the creators decided instead to focus not on his looks, but instead on treats of character, his non-heroic side, the scientist. And who would guess? It works.

He is dork who is always late for a train and awkwardly trails off. He is a nerd, stating that keeping these chemicals on same shelf is the definision of dangerous, placing them in the right place with an accompaniment of thunder in the background Oh yeah, I know where this is going. This is the best we could get, especially if you consider a possibility of spin-off with its own TV series - nevermind that other show.
